Locum Surgical Registrar

Job description

Responsibilities

• Manage surgical patients, including preoperative and postoperative care
• Perform surgical procedures appropriate to the registrar level under consultant supervision
• Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Provide on-call cover for emergency surgical cases
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including SHOs and interns
• Maintain accurate and thorough clinical documentation
• Collaborate with consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to deliver high-quality patient care

Requirements

• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
• At least two years of post-internship experience, with previous experience at registrar level preferred
• Strong background in general surgery or a related surgical specialty
• Eligibility to work in Ireland, as sponsorship will not be provided for locum vacancies
