Job Opportunity: Resident Medical Officer (RMO)
Location: Cork

An age-friendly rehabilitation services, supporting Ireland’s largest private long-term residential and stepdown care. The mission aligns with the HSE’s Age Friendly Health Service (AFHS) initiative, providing post-acute rehabilitation and home care for older adults.

About the Rehabilitation Units:
The Rehabilitation Units in Cork offer Level 2 and Level 3 rehabilitation to patients referred from acute hospitals. These units cater to patients with ongoing medical and rehabilitation needs, using a multidisciplinary approach including nursing, therapy, and specialist medical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality medical care to patients in the 25-50 bed rehabilitation unit.
  • Collaborate with nurses and Health & Social Care Practitioners (HSCPs) to implement rehabilitation care plans.
  • Perform initial patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and medication reviews.
  • Monitor patient progress through daily ward rounds and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Conduct procedural activities (IV cannulations, infusions) and manage medications.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation, including discharge summaries.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assess hospital readmission if required.

Qualifications:

  • Registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)

Hours:

  • 24/7 onsite cover with a rotating roster (including nights/weekends) for the RMO team (4 + 1 Senior).

Contract:

  • Permanent, full-time.
  • Availability to start in Feb 2025
