Locum Liaison Psychiatrist

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and manage patients referred for mental health issues within general hospital settings, including emergency departments, wards, and outpatient services.
• Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.
• Provide specialist input into the management of conditions such as delirium, depression, anxiety, and psychosis in medical or surgical patients.
• Deliver timely psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments.
• Support the development of care plans and contribute to discharge planning.
• Offer consultation and education to hospital staff regarding mental health concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
• Specialist registration in Psychiatry, with experience in Liaison Psychiatry preferred.
• Excellent clinical and communication skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic hospital environment.
